Visitor data collected via telemetry is online

Data collected by visitor counters is usually forwarded after the close of each day to our online results dashboard. Sometimes it transfers hourly. Data from counters inside a building such as a gallery or library can be forwarded to the web over the existing WiFi which is very cost-effective since the WiFi has been paid for already as corporate infrastructure. Live data from outdoors counters scattered around a property up to a few kms away can also be transmitted back to a building by LoRa private radio connections.  It is combined with any indoors counter data and then forwarded en bloc to Linetop’s results dashboard for you to view on any web browser as used on office PCs and smartphones. Without WiFi in the building, we would forward your visitor data en bloc to the Internet, obtaining a 4G connection with our 4G gateway box.  We can save inbound data on a local Windows PC database as an alternative to the web dashboard. Individual visitor counters, indoors or outdoors, can be connected directly to the 4G network which is normal practice when there is no suitable building to house a gateway unit. The dashboard database contains the individual hourly totals for every counter in your footfall project.  The dashboard can also reformat data from any one or any combination of counters as daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual totals in the form of charts and tables.  It can also produce monthly, quarterly and annual reports as Microsoft Word files. Your results dashboard is hosted on Linetop’s servers so there is no involvement or responsibility attaching of your own organisation’s IT department. Access to our dashboard is controlled by client username and password.   You legally own your data although we are hosting it.  You can easily transfer out any or all your raw data as Microsoft Excel files if you wish to make use of AI analytics or just keep a backup copy.

Results from data loggers reside on Windows

TopLog is Linetop’s flagship data logger designed specifically for footfall research.  They have evolved over 20 years into a mature and highly reliable cost-effective alternative to telemetry (WiFi, 4G, LoRa radio etc) where continuous access to the most recent data is not an imperative. Loggers store up to several years of hourly data for one or two attached sensors in robust removeable flash memory modules we call memory cubes.  The loggers can optionally store 20,000 individual timestamps so each sensor triggering is date-timestamped to the second, essential for surveillance projects.  The used memory cubes are read by our Windows app called Numero and the saved data is collated by EcoPC which is the Windows analytical app equivalent to the telemetry system dashboard.
